This Past Juneteenth (June 19th). I was blessed yet again to travel doing what i love most, MUSIC. Sponsored by Da Cipher 360, a community organization in Abilene founded by Bro.Robert Lily,I was invited along with some of my favorite poets namely Anthony Douglass who is a member of the Award Winning Fort Worth Slam Team, Be Wise former member of the Slam Team and one of the most thought provoking poets, along with Giselle Robinson the lyricist from the Islands who is least to say gifted with words. Caught in the middle of a Tornado storm we arrived finding the whole park torn apart by tornado, Amazingly as the sun started to disappear into the horizon dozens of people from the sorrounding neighborhoods slowly drifted toward the park. Soon enough the park was packed. This was almost a perfect allegory symbolizing the survivor spirit of the minorities in this city who have gone through too much in the past decades. I carried my camera along and just had to share the experience with you all. Needless to say the night was successful and the locals were inspired as well as us. Here is theĀ Mini Documentary of the Experience. FEEL FREE TO SHARE
